Our brands - The Bondi Shoe Club 'Supporting Marine Conservation'
The Bondi Shoe Club, Supports Australian Marine Conservation
The Bondi Shoe Club is an Australian brand that focuses on manufacturing comfortable and colourful vegan footwear that is cruelty free & environmentally responsible, always with the higher purpose of supporting Australia's beautiful ocean and the Great Barrier Reef.
The story
Founder Fran McKirdy wanted the brand to reflect her values so, being vegan, ocean lover and keen diver felt strongly about the business having a higher purpose attached to the ocean. She chose the Australian Marine Conservation Society as it was the only charity solely dedicated to the preservation of Australia’s incredible marine life and their homes.
Beyond that and caring deeply about the brand's social and environmental responsibility the packaging is biodegradable or compostable. Plus, in an effort to be as sustainable and responsible as possible the shoes are constructed out of material that can be broken down and recycled.
Where are your Bondi Shoe Club espadrilles made?
The Bondi Shoe Club is an Australian company with HQ based in Sydney. However, there is no industry for shoe manufacturing here in Australia anymore as that moved abroad 20 years ago so founder Fan McKirdy made sure to find a manufacturer that not only produced good quality shoes, but did so ethically and fairly.
After much looking the founders chose to work with a small family run manufacturer in china which has approximately 40 workers, where environmentally friendly materials and glues are also a part of the production standards.
The Bondi Shoe Club Awards and Certifications
The Certification Vegan Australia certifies the shoes/ materials were free from animal products, not tested on animals and no animal products used in the production process.
